Hysteroscopy

The use of a telescope to examine the inside of the uterus is call Hysteroscopy, and is the procedure of choice to evaluate abnormal uterine bleeding. By placing the telescope through the vagina and cervix, into the uterine cavity, problems such as fibroids or polyps can be diagnosed. Endometrial biopsy or D and C is usually performed at the same time. The best treatment plan can then be determined. Hysteroscopy is recommended before Endometrial Ablation to make sure that fibroids or polyps of the uterine lining do not need to be separately addressed during the treatment.
