Statement on Hormone Therapy for Menopause

The estrogen-only arm of the Women’s Health Initiative study reinforces the concept of hormone therapy in postmenopausal women only as a treatment for menopausal symptoms, not as a preventive health aid. We recommend the use of hormone therapy in the lowest effective dose for the shortest possible length of time.
